This hexagonal cast iron tower stands 30 meters tall, painted white, and is topped with a lantern and gallery. Operational since 1905, it emits a white light with one flash every six seconds. The light's focal height reaches 34 meters, providing a geographic range of 16 nautical miles. The lighthouse is located on the southernmost tip of Borneo, about 42 kilometers from the port of Banjarmasin. Alongside the tower are several single-story coast guard buildings.
Why it matters: The lighthouse warns vessels of hazards at Tanjung Selatan, the southern extremity of Borneo, and is essential for ships approaching or departing Banjarmasin.
