Tanabe City Lighthouses Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Tanabe City Lighthouses Lighthouse
This 8.5 meter concrete lighthouse, completed in 1966, marks the western entrance to Mori harbor. It stands on a short breakwater on the south side of Tanabe, within the sheltered waters of Muroto Bay. The tower is covered in white tiles and features a square, one-story equipment room at its base. Its light flashes green once every six seconds. The site is accessible to the public, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for guiding vessels into Mori harbor, particularly local fishing boats and commercial traffic, and prevents groundings on the breakwater.
