About Tambu Island Lighthouse
Also known as: Tambo
The Tambu Island Lighthouse, operational since 1993, is a 10-meter cylindrical fiberglass tower painted white and red. Its focal plane stands 6 meters above sea level. The lighthouse emits a red flash every 5 seconds, visible for 2 nautical miles. It is located on a small island northwest of Talibon, marking the waters of the Bohol Sea. The site is open to the public, but the tower is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse guides vessels navigating local shipping lanes into and out of the Talibon area. Its distinctive barbell-shaped tower provides a warning against hazards in the surrounding waters.
