About Arangasa Island Lighthouse
Constructed in 1916, Arangasa Island Lighthouse stands on the eastern shore of a small island situated approximately ten kilometers southeast of Cagwait. The structure emits a white light with a single flash every five seconds, visible for a distance of 10.7 nautical miles. Its focal plane is 11 meters above sea level. The lighthouse serves to guide maritime traffic navigating the coastal waters of Mindanao. Visitors can access the spiraling staircase that encircles its concrete post.
Why it matters: The lighthouse warns mariners of Arangasa Island and assists vessels traveling to and from the port of Bislig.
