Takabaka Saki lighthouse is a 10-meter tall cylindrical concrete post, painted white. It was built and first lit in 1972 on a promontory on the east coast of Okinawa, approximately 10 kilometers southeast of Nago. The lighthouse marks the north side of the entrance to Oura Bay. Its white light flashes once every 6 seconds, with a geographic range of 14.3 nautical miles. The structure also includes a small, single-story equipment shelter.
Why it matters: This lighthouse guides vessels entering Oura Bay from the north, aiding safe navigation along Okinawa's eastern coastline.
