Its lantern room and gallery complete the structure, which emits a white light with one flash every 8 seconds. The lighthouse is situated on an island that is only accessible by boat, 5.2 kilometers from the nearest port of Misumi. Its focal height is 126 meters above sea level, providing a geographic range of 27.5 nautical miles.
Why it matters: The lighthouse warns mariners of the isolated Taka Shima island and aids navigation in the coastal waters north of Masuda.
