About Stokken Lighthouse
The Stokken Lighthouse is a 14-meter cylindrical masonry tower located on the northwestern point of the island of Stokken, near Kristiansand. Its structure includes a lantern and gallery attached to a keeper's house. The light has since been moved offshore to a smaller post, now emitting an occulting green flash every 4 seconds. The original tower, while no longer active, remains on site. The lighthouse grounds are open to the public and accessible by boat, offering views of the island.
Why it matters: The original lighthouse, with its distinctive tower and keeper's house, represents a specific architectural style for Norwegian lighthouses. The site continues to draw interest for its coastal history and remote island setting.
