About Stålhuva Lighthouse
Also known as: Stålhuva (Stålhovo)
Stålhuva is an octagonal fiberglass tower, standing 12 meters tall on a concrete post topped with a double gallery. It is situated on a small islet approximately 1.5 kilometers east of the Slåtterøy lighthouse, within the Vestland region of Norway. The lighthouse emits a directional light, which cycles through white, red, and green every 6 seconds. Constructed from concrete and fiberglass, the focal height of its light reaches 15 meters above sea level. This navigational aid has a geographic range of 11.9 nautical miles and the site is accessible to the public, although the tower itself remains closed.
Why it matters: Stålhuva's directional light is essential for guiding vessels through specific channels and around hazards in the complex waters east of Slåtterøy, delineating safe passages for local mariners.
