About Sørvær Molo Lighthouse
Also known as: Sørvær Molo (?)
The Sørvær Molo was a concrete, octagonal tower 6 meters in height, featuring a lantern and gallery supported by four black-painted straightpiles. The lantern itself was white with a red roof. It stood on a skerry inside Sørvær harbor, connected to the west breakwater. This structure emitted a white light with a flash characteristic of F.W. 26, visible for 17 nautical miles. Operational since an unrecorded date, its service concluded in 2025, and it may have been removed. Visitors can access the site, but the tower remains closed.
Why it matters: This light offered specific guidance for local fishing vessels and small craft entering Sørvær harbor, helping them safely clear the breakwater and navigate into sheltered waters.
