This navigational aid is situated on the northwestern end of Spanish Bank, a considerable shoal area on the south side of the Burrard Inlet entrance. Much of the bank is exposed at low tide. The structure consists of a tall, nine-pile wooden platform supporting a cylindrical tower painted white with a red top. It stands 7 meters tall and the light is also at a focal height of 7 meters. The light emits a single red flash every 6 seconds, visible for 9.3 nautical miles. The nearest port is North Vancouver, 6.6 kilometers away.
