About South Mazarkiff Lighthouse
Also known as: South Mazarkiff (Mazakif, Masaqif)
The South Mazarkiff lighthouse stands on a triangular platform supported by piles, forming part of a small island near the southern end of Farasān Island. This 20-meter post structure is distinguished by a red tripod daymark. Its light emits a white flash every 12 seconds from a focal height of 20 meters. The lighthouse is located approximately 40 kilometers southwest of Jīzān, serving waters near the largest island in the Farasān group. The site is accessible by boat, but the tower itself remains closed to the public.
Why it matters: This light marks a key point in the waters south of Farasān Island, aiding navigation through the island group. The red tripod daymark offers a clear visual cue during daylight.
