Sogndal Lighthouse stands on the north side of a Sognefjord branch near Nordnes. This steel tower, built in 2007, is 6 meters tall with a focal height of 7 meters. Its square skeletal structure is covered with corrugated metal siding and topped with a lantern and gallery. The light emits one white, red, or green flash every 6 seconds, visible for 9.3 nautical miles. This lighthouse was the first of a new model, designed for easy maintenance and rapid installation, a significant development for Norway's coastal navigation aids.
