This fiberglass tower, standing 6 meters tall, displays a white light with two black horizontal bands and a red roof. It emits two white flashes every 8 seconds, with red and green sectors also present. The current structure replaced an earlier wooden tower. While the tower itself is closed to the public, the surrounding site is accessible.

It sits along the Barents Sea approximately 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) north of the village of Gamvik on the northern coast of the Nordkinn Peninsula, within the Slettnes Nature Reserve. The 39-metre (128 ft) lighthouse is the only cast iron lighthouse in Finnmark county.
