Location & Light Range
About Sillåsen Lighthouse
The Sillåsen Lighthouse, built in 1944, is a 21-meter cylindrical iron tower situated on a conical iron pier. Its upper half is white, and the lower half is black. This structure replaced the former Skäggenäs lighthouse on the mainland, taking over its role in guiding vessels. The lighthouse emits an occulting white light with red and green sectors every 6 seconds, visible for 13.2 nautical miles. It stands about 2 kilometers east of Revsudden, marking a narrow passage in the northern Kalmarsund.
Why it matters: Sillåsen Lighthouse is essential for safe transit through the northern Kalmarsund, a narrow shipping lane where precise navigation is critical.
