About Senskjær Lighthouse
The former Senskjær Lighthouse was an octagonal, 5-meter tall structure built in 1913. It featured a white lantern room with a red roof, mounted on four black piles. This lighthouse marked a rock off the eastern tip of Flekkerøy, approximately 1 kilometer west of the Oksøy lighthouse. With a focal height of 73 meters, it provided a geographic range of 11 nautical miles. The structure was made of fiberglass and its light was red. It was operational until 2021 when it was decommissioned and removed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse's primary role was to mark a specific rocky hazard off Flekkerøy, guiding local maritime traffic and vessels navigating the approach to nearby waters.
