About Scoglitti Lighthouse
This lighthouse, established in 1914, stands on the Via Amalfi on the south side of Scoglitti, approximately 12 kilometers southwest of Vittoria. The white, cylindrical tower measures 13 meters in height and emits three white flashes every 10 seconds. It is centered on the roof of a 1-story keeper's house, presenting an octagonal cylindrical structure with a lantern and a double gallery. The tower's focal height reaches 15 meters, providing a geographic range of 11.9 nautical miles. This operational light serves the waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
Why it matters: The lighthouse's architectural blend, with a modern tower atop an older keeper's house, is a unique feature. It provides navigational aid for local fishing boats and recreational vessels along this part of the Sicilian coast.
