Salerno Molo di Ponente Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Salerno Molo di Ponente Lighthouse
This concrete post light marks the western breakwater entrance to Salerno harbor. Standing 10 meters tall, it features a red bottle-style tower atop an octagonal equipment room. Its light emits a single red flash every 5 seconds. The structure, built from concrete, has a focal height of 13 meters and a geographic range of 11.3 nautical miles. In August 2021, the light was temporarily deactivated and replaced by buoys during a project to shorten the breakwater; it was later relocated and reinstalled. Visitors can access the breakwater site, but the tower itself is closed to the public.
Why it matters: The light warns mariners of the breakwater's end, aiding safe entry into Salerno harbor.
