Sakihama Kō Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Sakihama Kō Lighthouse
This concrete lighthouse, painted white, stands 10 meters tall with its light positioned 15 meters above sea level. The cylindrical tower features a flared top and is attached to a small, single-story equipment shelter. Operational since its activation, it emits a green flash every 3 seconds, visible for nearly 12 nautical miles. The site is accessible to the public, though the tower itself remains closed. Its location marks the northern end of a detached breakwater at the entrance to Sakihama harbor.
Why it matters: The lighthouse precisely marks the harbor entrance, preventing vessels from colliding with the detached breakwater and ensuring safe passage for maritime traffic.
