A white, round, cylindrical concrete tower stands 11 meters tall, with its light positioned 12 meters above the water. Built in 1980, this structure is located on the west breakwater of Rausu Port in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan. It emits a single green flash every four seconds, visible for 11 nautical miles. The lighthouse guides vessels entering and departing the harbor, aiding navigation within the waters of Rausu Port. While the site is open to the public, the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This light assists numerous fishing boats and other vessels navigating the harbor entrance and supports the local fishing economy by ensuring reliable access to the Nemuro Strait's fishing grounds.
