About Rauma Lighthouse
The Rauma lighthouse, built in 1981, stands on a concrete foundation about 16 kilometers west of the city of Rauma. This cylindrical concrete tower, painted red, is 23 meters high. Its lantern room is topped with a double gallery and a helipad. The lighthouse emits two white flashes every 10 seconds, alternating with red and green signals to indicate different sectors. The light's focal plane is 22 meters above sea level, providing a geographic range of 13.6 nautical miles. While the site is accessible by boat, the tower itself is closed to visitors.
Why it matters: This lighthouse guides vessels approaching the port of Rauma and marks a hazardous shoal. Its colored light sectors provide directional guidance to help mariners avoid underwater obstructions.
