About Raudøy Lighthouse
Also known as: Raudøy (Rauøy)
The current Raudøy lighthouse, a cylindrical white fiberglass tower standing 8 meters tall, was built in 2011. It emits a white, red, or green light, showing four flashes every four seconds, with a focal height of 12 meters. This structure replaced an earlier station established in 1891. The original lighthouse was deactivated and sold in 1932, ending its service after many years as a maritime marker. The lighthouse is situated on a small island off the south coast of Atløy, serving the approach to Askvoll. Its geographic range extends to 11 nautical miles.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for guiding vessels into Askvoll harbor, particularly given the challenging coastal waters off Atløy.
