About Rankwitz-Krienke Oberfeuer Lighthouse
This square skeletal tower, built in 1955, stands 25 meters tall and is painted white with a single red horizontal band. It is located in a farm field on the west side of Usedom island, approximately 3 kilometers south of Rankwitz. The light is situated at a focal height of 27 meters and emits a white light with a geographic range of 14.7 nautical miles. The tower serves a dual purpose, projecting one white light with four flashes every 15 seconds for the southbound Rankwitz range and a second white light with two flashes every 10 seconds for the northbound Krienke range.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for guiding vessels through two critical navigational ranges, the southbound Rankwitz range and the northbound Krienke range, by housing two distinct range lights within a single tower.
