Established in 1931, this lighthouse marks a cape approximately 15 kilometers northeast of La Vela de Coro, Venezuela. It took the place of a former hexagonal metal tower. The present square skeletal tower measures 15 meters in height and features horizontal red and white bands. The light is white, flashing once every 7 seconds. With a focal height of 59 meters, its illumination reaches 20 nautical miles, assisting ships along this part of the coast.
Why it matters: The structure serves as a navigation aid, warning ships of the rocky cape situated close to La Vela de Coro. Its ongoing service since 1931 underscores its continuous function in maritime safety for craft approaching or leaving the nearby port.
