Punta S' Esperó is an active lighthouse situated on the easternmost point of Menorca, indicating the entry to Port de Maó. The present structure is an 8-meter tall, round fiberglass tower featuring a conical base and marked with black and white horizontal bands. Its light cycles through one white flash followed by two white flashes every 15 seconds. The light's focal height reaches 22 meters, offering a navigation range of 13.6 nautical miles. This fiberglass tower took the place of a former 11-meter cylindrical structure.
Why it matters: This lighthouse directs ships towards Port de Maó, a major natural bay on Menorca, and serves as a warning for the island's rocky eastern shore.
