Punta Pedernales is a 15-meter steel skeletal tower with black and white horizontal bands, located on a headland southwest of Pedernales, Ecuador. This triangular structure stands 35 meters above sea level and emits a white flash every 10 seconds. The current skeletal tower replaced a previous, shorter concrete tower. It has a geographic range of 16.2 nautical miles. The lighthouse is situated in the Manabí region.
Why it matters: This lighthouse warns vessels away from the headland southwest of Pedernales, ensuring safe passage for local fishing boats and commercial vessels along this stretch of the Ecuadorian coast.
