Location & Light Range
About Punta de Roncudo Lighthouse
Constructed from brick and standing 11 meters tall, the Punta de Roncudo lighthouse was first lit in 1920. The white cylindrical tower features a gallery and is painted white. It stands on a promontory that marks the northern entrance to the Ría de Corme y Lage, approximately 6 km west of Corme Puerto. The lighthouse emits a single white flash every six seconds. Its light has a geographic range of 16.7 nautical miles and a focal height of 38 meters above sea level. The structure is similar in design to the Punta Lage lighthouse.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for vessels navigating the Ría de Corme y Lage, marking the northern approach to the estuary and preventing groundings on the promontory.
