About Punta Beppe Tuccio Lighthouse
Constructed in 1890, the Punta Beppe Tuccio lighthouse stands as a cylindrical masonry tower 17 meters high, painted white. It features a lantern and gallery atop a one-story keeper's house. The light emits white flashes with a 20-second cycle, visible for approximately 15.7 nautical miles. Situated on the northeast corner of Linosa island, this structure is positioned off the Via Fariglioni. Linosa is a small, roughly square island approximately 3 kilometers in diameter and the closest of the Pelagie Islands to Sicily. The site is open to visitors, though the tower itself remains closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse aids navigation by marking the northeast corner of Linosa island, helping vessels safely circumnavigate the small, isolated landmass in the Channel of Sicily.
