A square skeletal steel tower stands 15 meters tall, painted with red and white horizontal bands. Mounted on a square platform supported by piles, its light reaches a focal height of 24 meters. The light emits a white flash every 10 seconds, visible for 14.1 nautical miles. This navigational aid was established in 1906, with a previous lighthouse completed in 1910. It is situated beside a pier at Punta Barima, on the south side of the Orinoco River's southernmost entrance.
