The Punta Alice Lighthouse, built in 1896 and first lit the same year, is located on a low cape approximately 5 kilometers north of Cirò Marina, Calabria, Italy. It features an octagonal cylindrical masonry tower, 27 meters in height, constructed of concrete. Attached to the tower is a lantern and gallery, which are integrated with a two-story masonry keeper's dwelling. The light source, situated at a focal height of 31 meters, produces a white flash every 10 seconds (Fl W 10s). The lighthouse has a documented geographic range of 15.5 nautical miles. Its NGA list number is 10624, Admiralty number is E2128, and ARLHS number is ITA-122.
Why it matters: This structure serves as a navigation aid, marking the western entrance to the Golfo di Taranto and warning mariners about the Punta Alice cape.
