About Port des Minimes Jetée de l'Est Lighthouse
Also known as: #Port des Minimes Jetée de l'Est (Digue du Bout Blanc)
This cylindrical masonry tower, standing 14 meters tall, once marked the eastern jetty of Port des Minimes in La Rochelle. Its white structure, distinguished by a red band at the top, supported a lantern and gallery. The light emitted quick white flashes, visible for nearly 12 nautical miles. Constructed from masonry, the round tower reached a focal height of 15 meters. Although it ceased operation in 2014 and its light was removed during harbor reconstruction, the tower remains on the jetty.
Why it matters: The lighthouse provided guidance into Port des Minimes, a significant marina in La Rochelle, before its deactivation.
