The Port Colborne Inner lighthouse was built in 1903 and first lit the same year. It is a square pyramidal tower measuring 13 meters in height, with its light positioned 15 meters above sea level. The structure is white with a red lantern and gallery and is attached to a one-story keeper's house. It emits a white flash every 10 seconds and has a geographic range of 11.9 nautical miles. This lighthouse stands at the northeast end of the T-shaped west breakwater, marking the entrance to the canal in Port Colborne. Although not accessible by land, it can be viewed from Lakeview Park.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is essential for maritime traffic entering the Welland Canal from Lake Erie. Its unique position on a T-shaped breakwater makes it a notable landmark.
