Built in 1849, Pirholmen Lighthouse consists of a 1-1/2 story concrete keeper's house with a lantern window on its front. This structure, located on an island in the Bekkjarviksund southeast of Austevoll, served as a navigational aid until 1900. The keeper's house became a private residence in 1903.
