Situated on a rocky shoal in the St. Lawrence River, approximately 7 kilometers west of St.-Jean-Port-Joli, its focal height is 25 meters. The lighthouse emits a white flash every 6 seconds, visible for 14.3 nautical miles. Between 2006 and 2008, local group Les Amis du Port-Joli and the Coast Guard undertook a restoration, installing a solar-powered LED lighting system. Ownership transferred to Les Amis du Port-Joli in November 2015, with further restoration completed in 2020.
