Location & Light Range
About Pelabuhan Kendari Lighthouse
Pelabuhan Kendari Lighthouse is a cylindrical fiberglass structure, 12 meters tall. Its light source is elevated 14 meters above sea level. The light is white, flashing once every 3 seconds, and can be seen up to 11.6 nautical miles away. The building is round, white, made of fiberglass, and has a flared top. It is located on the north side of the estuary, west of a large cable-stayed bridge, and marks the eastern limit of the quay at the Kendari passenger terminal. Visitors can access the site, but climbing the tower is not permitted.
Why it matters: This lighthouse serves as a navigation aid for ships approaching and leaving Kendari's port, an important waterway in Southeast Sulawesi, by marking the passenger terminal area where many vessels gather.
