Built in 1837, the Pass Manchac Lighthouse stood 40 meters tall. The first lighthouse at this location was established in 1838. Several structures were built on the site, with the fourth and final tower constructed in 1857. Previous towers, erected in 1838, 1842, and 1846, required replacement due to construction issues and rising water levels. The light was operational for 130 years.
