About Ohamasaki Lighthouse
Ohamasaki Lighthouse was completed in 1894. Situated on Innoshima Island in Onomichi City, it overlooks the Bukagari Strait, a channel between Innoshima and Mukaijima. A tide station was established west of the lighthouse in the same year of its completion. A signal station was later built on a hill south of the lighthouse in 1910, and this structure is now preserved as the Lighthouse Memorial Hall within Innoshima Bridge Memorial Park.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is located in the central part of the Seto Inland Sea.
