This round masonry tower stands 46 meters tall and exhibits a white and red color scheme. Its focal height is 16 meters, providing a geographic range of 12 nautical miles. The light emits white, red, and green signals, with a characteristic of one white flash every 10 seconds. Construction was completed in 1895 by Japanese efforts, marking the eastern edge of the Bisan Seto Eastern Shipping Route. It is one of only three lighthouses in Japan constructed of unpainted stone.
Why it matters: Designated an Important Cultural Property, this lighthouse is recognized for its high historical and cultural value and is included in Japan's Top 50 Lighthouses.
