Location & Light Range
About Odaito Kō Lighthouse
A cylindrical concrete tower, 11 meters tall, was built and first lit in 1979 to mark Odaito Kō. The structure, painted white, features an hourglass shape below its lantern and gallery. It emits a green light with a single flash every three seconds, visible for 11.3 nautical miles. This lighthouse is situated at the end of the central quay in Odiato, facing Ryujin Bay and sheltered by Notsuke Saki. The site is open to visitors, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse guides vessels into Odaito harbor and through the sheltered waters of Ryujin Bay, which are protected by the geographic feature of Notsuke Saki.
