Nyholmen Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Nyholmen Lighthouse
The Nyholmen Lighthouse, a cylindrical 7-meter fiberglass tower, was built and first lit in 2017. Its exterior is painted red, with a white lantern and a red roof. The light emits a white, red, or green flash every six seconds. This modern structure stands at the southwestern tip of Nyholmen, near the port of Bodø. The lighthouse is situated on a small island marking the northern part of Bodø's harbor.
Why it matters: Established in 1875, the lighthouse station guides local shipping around the island's southwestern tip, preventing groundings in potentially hazardous waters.
