The Notoro Misaki Lighthouse, established in 1917, is an octagonal concrete structure reaching 21 meters in height. It is painted with horizontal bands of black and white, and includes a lantern and gallery at its summit. A one-story dwelling for the keeper is connected to the tower. The facility was automated in 1980 and switched to solar energy in 1996. Exhibiting a white light with a cycle of 8 seconds (Fl W 8s), its illumination originates from a focal plane 57 meters above sea level and can be seen for a distance of 19.7 nautical miles. It is situated on Cape Notoro, roughly 8 km north of Abashiri, Hokkaido Prefecture.
