About Northwest Passage Lighthouse
Built in 1879, this screwpile lighthouse featured a two-story square cottage structure. It was situated on the south side of the Northwest Channel entrance, approximately 7 miles northwest of Key West. The lighthouse served mariners navigating the channels leading to the port. Its active service concluded by 1921, and it was later charted as an obstruction. The structure burned down in 1971.
