About Norbyskär Lighthouse
This white, cylindrical concrete tower, standing 6 meters tall, was built in 1943 on a skerry 2.5 kilometers south of Norrbyn. Its focal height reaches 5 meters above sea level. Originally serving as the front portion of a two-light range, its companion rear light is no longer present. The lighthouse emits an occulting white, red, and green light with a 4-second cycle, visible for 8.4 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: Norbyskär Lighthouse's sector light provides precise guidance, enabling mariners to safely navigate specific channels and avoid hazards in the waters south of Norrbyn.
