This cylindrical concrete tower, painted black, stands 16 meters tall and functions as a navigational aid. It is located at the eastern end of the Nishinomiya Breakwater, a long structure parallel to the coast between Osaka and Kobe, situated off Osaka's north harbor. The light emits a single green flash every five seconds. The tower, which includes a lantern and gallery, has a focal height of 16 meters and a geographic range of 12.2 nautical miles. While the site is open, the tower itself is closed to the public and accessible only by boat, being 1.3 kilometers from the nearest port of Amagasaki.
Why it matters: This light marks the eastern extremity of the Nishinomiya Breakwater, a significant feature for vessels navigating the busy shipping lanes between Osaka and Kobe.
