This cylindrical concrete tower, built in 1938, stands 9 meters tall with a focal height of 9 meters. It displays white and green sectors with a flashing characteristic of one white and one green flash every 2 seconds. The tower is painted with red and white vertical stripes. It served as the front light of the Nicolet Range until the rear light was discontinued in 1970. The structure was destroyed by ice floes in 2025. Its original design included a prow-shaped upstream side to resist ice.
Why it matters: The Nicolet lighthouse aided navigation in the east end of the Lac St.-Pierre basin, a location known for difficult ice conditions.
