About Naze Kō No. 1 Breakwater Lighthouse
This 10-meter red concrete cylindrical post, attached to a 1-story concrete equipment room, formerly marked the end of Naze's traditional harbor breakwater. It offered a focal height of 8 meters and projected a geographic range of 4 nautical miles. The light emitted a yellow flash with a 30-second cycle. It served as a navigational aid for vessels approaching the port of Naze, located 1.6 kilometers away. The structure was eventually demolished as part of harbor infrastructure improvements.
Why it matters: Its presence guided local vessels into Naze's traditional harbor, ensuring safe passage through the breakwater entrance.
