About Nam Du Lighthouse
Also known as: Nam Du (Nan Du)
This square light tower, yellow with white trim, stands 11.5 meters tall. It was built in 2001 and features a gallery and a lantern atop a post, centered on a two-story keeper's house. The light emits a white flash every 10 seconds. Its focal height of 195 meters provides a geographic range of 33.3 nautical miles. The lighthouse is located on the largest island of the Nam Du archipelago.
Why it matters: Its high focal height and extensive range are critical for warning vessels of the numerous islands and submerged hazards within the Nam Du archipelago, an important region for both fishing fleets and commercial traffic in the Gulf of Thailand.
