About Nakanosaku Kō West Breakwater Lighthouse
Also known as: #Nakanosaku Kō West Breakwater
This concrete lighthouse, standing 10 meters tall, was built in 2013 on a short breakwater marking the west side of the Nakanosaku harbor entrance. The structure consists of a square, single-story equipment shelter topped by a white concrete post. The original light at this location was lost during the 2011 tsunami. A replacement was erected in 2013, serving for a period before its eventual removal. It guided vessels entering the modern harbor from the sea.
Why it matters: The light served as a navigational aid for vessels entering the Nakanosaku harbor, representing rebuilding efforts after the 2011 tsunami.
