Location & Light Range
About Nagai Kō Lighthouse
This red concrete lighthouse, built in 1980, stands 8 meters tall on the southern breakwater of Nagai Kō. Its focal height reaches 9.5 meters, casting an occulting red light that flashes every 4 seconds. The structure consists of a concrete post mounted on a 1-story square equipment room, with the entire lighthouse painted red. It guides vessels into the port located on the west side of the Miura Peninsula. The site is open to the public, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This light is important for local fishing boats and smaller commercial vessels navigating the entrance to Nagai port, ensuring their safe passage around the main breakwater.
