About Nada Miyauji Shima Lighthouse
Also known as: #Nada Miyauji Shima
Located on an islet at the end of a dangerous reef approximately 2 kilometers northwest of Daio Saki, this former lighthouse marked a hazardous area of Mie Prefecture. The original structure consisted of a 10-meter concrete post supporting a large rectangular lantern. Its light, a flashing white beam, guided vessels away from submerged dangers. The lighthouse site is now open to the public, offering access to the coastal landscape. While the original concrete post has been removed, the marker it once illuminated now carries its own light.
Why it matters: This lighthouse was essential for mariners navigating the waters near Daio Saki, specifically warning them away from a dangerous reef that posed a significant hazard to shipping.
