An octagonal concrete tower, constructed in 1966, measures 8 meters in height and displays horizontal bands of black and white. Its focal plane is situated at 61 meters, with a light range extending 20.2 nautical miles. The illumination produces a white flash occurring every 4.5 seconds. This structure, located on a headland, delineates the southern entry to Russkaya Bay, situated approximately 35.4 kilometers from Petropavlovsk. It supersedes earlier navigation markers dating from the 1940s.
Why it matters: This lighthouse serves as a marker for vessels entering Russkaya Bay, a harbor offering protection. Its light assists sailors in traversing the bay's opening, facilitating secure movement for ships requiring sanctuary or passing through the region.
